The Office of Information Technology Services seeks to enhance the liberal arts experience by integrating and supporting appropriate technological solutions for all aspects of the campus community. IT provides services in four core areas:
- Individual computer support
- Network/telecommunications
- Information systems
- Instructional technology
Available Technology
- Wireless connectivity: Available in most areas of campus.
- Email: Students are provided with a network login and email address via Microsoft’s hosted email service called Microsoft 365.
- Microsoft Office: Students are provided with a downloadable copy of Microsoft Office 365. Programs include: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Computers: Available in the Zell and Shirley Miller Library, the Success Center, and specific computer labs related to certain academic disciplines.
- Passwords: Expire every 90 days and can be reset by going to the YHC Password Portal.
Technology Support
Any student who needs help connecting to the campus wired or wireless network, or their YHC email, is encouraged to call (706) 379-5212, email helpdesk@yhc.edu or drop by the IT Helpdesk located in the Pruitt-Barrett Building. Information Technology Services staff does not work on student owned computers or devices and does not remove viruses. Information Technology Services will provide information on removing viruses or answer questions related to computer problems. YHC Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy
The Young Harris College Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) promotes the efficient, ethical, and lawful use of Young Harris College’s information technology resources (“IT Resources”), including the College’s computing systems, networks, and associated facilities which are intended to support the College’s mission and enhance the educational environment. Any use of the IT Resources deemed inconsistent with the mission and purpose of the College will be considered a violation of this policy.
This policy applies to anyone who uses the College’s IT Resources. The IT Resources covered by this policy include but are not limited to: computer hardware and software, telephone and data networks, and electronically stored data. Use of these resources includes access from off campus and on campus, as well as access from privately owned PCs and laptops. The entirety of this policy can be viewed on the Information Technology page on the YHC website.
Violations of these regulations will result in the appropriate disciplinary action, which may include loss of computing privileges, suspension, termination, or expulsion from the College, and legal action.
