EDUC 5100 - Advanced Instructional Concepts 3 hours Prerequisites: EDUC 5401 Co-requisite: EDUC 5403 This course familiarizes MAT candidates with individualized advanced instructional concepts and considerations such as co-teaching, career and college readiness, authentic learning experiences, working with families, comparisons of rural and urban contexts, globalizing education as well as the cultural, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, disability, and language differences they might expect to encounter in public schools. Additionally, this course asks MAT candidates to explore and assess their own cultural identities, to investigate how their lenses are similar to, or different from those of their students as they begin to critically examine issues of power, privilege, and marginalization in schools. Prerequisites: Successful completion of EDUC 5401 Early Field Studies and professional pass level score on appropriate GACE
