COMM 3050 - Family Communication (H) 3 hours Prerequisites: A grade of a “C” or better in COMM 2050 This course will provide students with an understanding of the theories and practices of family communication by providing a framework for discussing the communication, sociological and psychological aspects of family communication and relating them to daily life examples. Students will learn how families communicate rules, roles, and stories that are essential to the process of meaning-making in the family and to its development. Students will also analyze theoretical frameworks such as family systems theory, social construction theory, and dialectical theory. When Offered: One 3000-4000 level each Fall & Spring rotated every 3 years
