Academic Advising at Young Harris College

(Click here to view the Academic Advising website)

Students are assigned to an academic advisor during each term of their enrollment at YHC. Students are required to meet with their academic advisor before each registration period.

Student Success Center staff advise many first year and sophomore students through completion of their core (general education) requirements. Juniors and seniors are advised by faculty members in their declared area of study. Both Education and Fine Arts students are advised by their faculty members during all four years of their program.

Student Success Center

The Student Success Center (SSC) encourages student learning and degree completion by coordinating effective programmatic initiatives and hosting comprehensive programs, resources, and services that encourage students’ academic, professional, and personal success. The goal of the Center staff is to provide quality programs and services to students that encourage student success. Additional information can be found on the Student Success Center website.

Zell and Shirley Miller Library

In October 2014, Young Harris College opened the Zell and Shirley Miller Library which more than doubled the College’s existing physical library facilities. In addition to space for permanent and special collections, there are group study rooms, reading carrels, computer stations and a large 24-hour study area.

The library’s services and resources extend far beyond the walls of the Miller Library, providing students and faculty with access to an excellent collection of databases, electronic texts, and journals accessible from anywhere in the world. Library staff can also obtain materials that are not available locally. Reference librarians are available to assist users with services and collections during most of the hours the library is open. In addition, they visit classes, teach workshops, and schedule individual research consultations.

Located in the Rollins Campus Center, the Library is in the heart of campus and near many other student centered services.
