General Regulations


* Courses MUST be taken at Young Harris College even if similar or same courses have been taken elsewhere.

Certification students deemed deficient by the advisors in content courses may be required to remediate the deficiency (usually by taking additional content courses).

An overall 2.75 GPA on a 4.00 scale is the requirement for enrollment in upper division required courses (3000 level or higher) and for recommendation for teacher certification in Georgia.

Only grades of C or better are acceptable in certification courses and for recommendation for teacher certification in Georgia.

Students must be admitted to the Teacher Preparation Program prior to enrolling in upper division courses (3000 level or higher).

A passing score on the GACE ECE content test must be on file in the Office of Teacher Preparation before Young Harris College will recommend the candidate for certification.

All candidates will be required to complete field and clinical experiences within diverse settings including, but not limited to socioeconomic, exceptionalities, ethnic and racial backgrounds, students with special needs as well as English language learners.

Note:


  • Candidates are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from required field and clinical experiences.
  • Course work may require word-processing, Internet access, and use of LiveText capabilities so students’ access to a personal laptop computer will increase learning outcomes.
  • Course work call for the use of LMS software, which may be purchased through the campus bookstore for a fee.
  • Candidates are responsible for any fees associated with assessments fro teaching certification as determined by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. These assessments include but are not limited to Program Admission, Content, Ethics, and edTPA assessments.
