PHIL 2210 - Critical Thinking

This course introduces basic techniques of good reasoning.  Students will learn to (1) identify the features of good and bad arguments, deductive and inductive, (2) eliminate vagueness, ambiguity, and extraneous materials from arguments, (3) identify and avoid formal and informal fallacies, and (4) construct a clear argumentative essay.  Content includes analogical, casual, probabilistic, statistical, and scientific reasoning.
