ENGL 4991 - Senior Presentation

1 hour
This course counts for one credit hour. Students majoring in English must enroll in this course during the semester in which they plan to graduate. This seNes as the culminating experience for students completing study in English at Young Harris College. You have two options for completing your capstone.
Option 1: You may revise and expand the argument made in a paper you have written for an upperlevel English course (3000/4000-level). You must use at least five secondary sources to inform your own narrowly focused argument about one or more primary texts. Your argument should be distinctive and interesting and should do more than simply repeat what others have said about the text(s) in question. This paper will be 12-15 pages in length and will require you to use at least five secondary sources to inform your argument. You may use sources that make an argument about the text(s) in question or sources that provide historical or cultural context for your analysis. After submitting your paper and receiving a grade and evaluation from your readers, you will revise the paper for delivery in a 15-20 minute presentation modeled on the format of an academic conference.
Option 2: You may develop a narrowly focused argument that you have not previously made about one or more primary texts of your choosing. All other requirements for this paper are the same as for option one.
