SPAN 3500 - Hispanic Cultural Heritage in US 3 hours Prerequisites: SPAN 2202 with a grade of “C-” or better. This course explores the artistic, intellectual, and social aspects of the cultural Hispanic heritage in the United States. It reviews the presence and influence of Spanish culture in North America from the colonial period to the present, with primary emphasis on contemporary figures and trends. Readings, video materials, and class discussions will be both in English and in Spanish. An optional trip will be organized to selected Spanish heritage sites within the Southeastern United States.
