Specific General Education Requirement for this Major

All courses must be completed with a grade of C- or better to be applied towards graduation requirements.

• COMM 1000 - Introduction to Human Communication

Lower Division Required Courses (18 hours)

• COMM 1050 - Introduction to Media Communication
• COMM 2010 - Social Statistics or MATH 2000 - Elementary Statistics  
• COMM 2050 - Communication Theory
• Select three additional COMM courses 2000-2999

Upper Division Required Courses (21 hours)

• COMM 3020 - Empirical Research Methods in Communication or COMM 3030 - Critical Approaches in Communication 
• COMM 4990 - Senior Capstone
• Select five additional COMM courses 3000 level or higher*

*up to three hours of any internship course may be applied toward major electives in lower and/or upper levels

Electives Related to the Major (6 hours)

• Choose any two classes not offered in the General Education Core from the following disciplines: APST, ARTS, CINE, CRWT, DANC, ENGL, HIST, MUSI, PCUL, RELI, SPAN, THEA, WGSS or any disciplines study abroad course.
