Spanish Minor

Lower Division Required Courses (6-12 hours)

For native, heritage speakers, or those who demonstrate a significant knowledge of the language(placement test), SPAN 1101, SPAN 1102, SPAN 2201 and/or SPAN 2202 may be waived. Students who earn a 16 on the test may waive SPAN 1101, SPAN 1102, and SPAN 2201. Students who earn a 20 may waive SPAN 2201 and SPAN 2202. If more than two courses are waived, the student will need to take two additional 3000/4000 courses in order to meet the minimum credit requirement of 15 hours for the minor.

• SPAN 1101 - Elementary Spanish I
• SPAN 1102 - Elementary Spanish II
• SPAN 2201 - Intermediate Spanish I
• SPAN 2202 - Intermediate Spanish II

Upper Division Required Courses (9 hours)

• SPAN 3100 - Adv. Spanish Conversation & Composition
• SPAN 3400 - Introduction to Hispanic Literature
• Select one additional SPAN 3000/4000 level course
