EDUC 3008 - Children’s Literature 3 hours Prerequisites: EDUC 2204 with a grade of “C-” or better. This course is designed to introduce students to various genres of children’s literature. In addition to reading the classics and the critically acclaimed works of both fiction and nonfiction by modern writers, students will study poetry, folklore, and mythology, and examine the relationship between illustration and text. The history of multicultural children’s books and issues relating to multiculturalism and stereotyping will be addressed. Strategies for critically evaluating and selecting literature for instruction and aesthetic purposes will be emphasized.
