The Master of Arts in Teaching is a professional program to prepare students for certification. Students are required to obtain a Pre-Service Certificate with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) for the duration of their program.
Except for the courses specified below, a student must earn a C or better in Master of Arts in Teaching courses.
The following must be met before a student is able to progress to Mid Field experiences:
- Maintain a minimum of a 2.75 or higher GPA.
- Earn a B- or better in EDUC 5001.
- Earn a B- or better in EDUC 5002
- Earn a B- or better in EDUC 5003.
The following must be met before a student is able to progress to Advanced Field experiences:
- Maintain all credentials established above including a minimum of a 2.75 or higher GPA.
- Earn a B- or better in EDUC 5402.
- Submit Field Study Experiences Guide with sections C completed.
- Successfully complete program or unit assessments at the appropriate proficiency level as designated on the transition point audit.
Upon completion of course work and Advanced Field experiences, the following must be met in order to be recommended for licensure:
- Maintain all credentials established above including a minimum of a 2.75 or higher GPA.
- Submit Field Study Experiences Guide with all sections completed.
- Successfully complete any program assessments at the appropriate proficiency level.
- Passing score on the edTPA assessment prior to program completion.
- Passing score on Georgia Educator Ethics - Program Exit (360) assessment prior to program completion.
- Successfully complete the Exit Interview with Department of Education faculty and TPP stakeholders.
- Complete Student Satisfaction Survey to provide feedback for Teacher Preparation Program improvement.
