ARTS 3230 - Italian Renaissance Art and Architecture

Prerequisites:   or   This course examines the arts and architecture associated with the Italian Renaissance, a period of culture renewal in the Italian peninsula, which has origins in the fourteenth century and developed further in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Lectures will survey painting, sculpture, and architecture in the major artistic centers of Florence, Rome, Venice, Milan and the Northern Courts. Special attention will be given to such issues as style, the rise of the artist as individual, patronage, propaganda, and more.When Offered: Fall Yearly
