EDUC 5023 - Models and Methods for Teaching English to Diverse Learners 3 hours Prerequisites: EDUC 5401 Co-requisite: EDUC 5402 This course informs MAT candidates with a background in the liberal arts in the design and delivery of lessons and units of study for adolescents in the English/language arts content area based on the Georgia Standards of Excellence. In addition to the nature of the discipline, the curriculum addresses theoretically-informed models and methods for the teaching of writing, prose, poetry, grammar, and vocabulary to diverse students in middle and secondary schools. In the accompanying professional lab, candidates begin an English-related action research study in the course. Prerequisites: Successful completion of EDUC 5401 Early Field Studies and professional pass level score on appropriate GACE
