HIST 4060 - The Radicalization of the American Civil Rights Movement I 3 hours Prerequisites: HIST 2112 with a grade of “C-” or better, or permission of instructor. This course traces the American Civil Rights movement’s transformation from non-violent origins in the 1950s to the confrontational, often violent approaches of various groups throughout the 1960s and early 1970s. The background of 1960s national crises, which include the antiwar movement, assassinations, and major conflict between generations will be emphasized as well.
