EDUC 3009 - Reading and Language Arts I

Co-requisite: EDUC 3003, EDUC 3007, EDUC 3008 This course is designed to introduce candidates to instructional strategies and resources used in reading and language arts early childhood classrooms. Particular attention will be paid to readiness factors, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension and fluency. Strategies for developing a balanced approach to literacy instruction that meets the diverse needs of students will be included. In addition, research-informed practices relating to reading, speaking, listening, writing, expressing and viewing will be addressed.When Offered: Spring Yearly
