CHEM 2200 - Survey of Organic Chemistry

Prerequisites: CHEM 1211 and CHEM 1212 This course is an introduction to organic chemistry. This survey will include an overview of the properties, structure, nomenclature, reactions of hydrocarbons, alcohols, phenols, ethers, halides, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, amines, and amides; The course will also include the properties, structure, and function of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and enzymes.The course is designed to provide an overview of organic compounds and how functionality relates to the chemistry found in everyday life. The course is designed for degrees that only require a one semester course in organic chemistry.
