PHIL 2330 - Phenomenology and Existentialism I

Prerequisites: ENGL 1101  or Permission of Instructor   Can we ever have the same experience as someone else? Is consciousness radically private or do we often reach a “meeting of the minds”? Who am I really, and what is the meaning of my life? This course provides students with an exploration of the phenomenological movement and the existentialist tradition through the themes of consciousness, subjectivity, experience, meaning, authenticity, absurdity, and anxiety. Figures may include Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Beauvoir, and others. ENGL 1101, or Permission of InstructorWhen Offered: Fall or Spring Every Two Years
