EDUC 3011 - Introduction to Middle Grades

Prerequisites: EDUC 2204 , EDUC 2220 , EDUC 2230 , and SAT scores of 1000 or higher (composite of Verbal and Math only) or GACE Program Admission Test score of 220 (or “passing”) or higher (on each the three components Reading, Writing and Mathematics) or ACT scores of 43 or higher (composite of English and Math scores). CSCI 1100  as co or pre-requisite. This course provides an exploration of the middle grades and middle level education including the middle school model. The course introduces the concept of the early adolescent through an emphasis on current research, curriculum development, and instructional planning. Sixty hours of field experience at approved sites is required for successful course completion and the student will need to provide own transportation to fulfill this experience. Current technology is used in class so students must have access to their own laptop computer for admittance to an Education program. When Offered: Fall Yearly
